Welcome to
The Million Boat Float

The word is out. Certain legislators in Sacramento
are determined by any means to destroy the Delta
by moving legislation ahead to construct a water
conveyance system comparable to the Panama Canal
circumventing the fresh water flows into the Delta
which will surely nail the coffin closed for the greatest
estuary in the western hemisphere. The corruption
MUST stop. They have refused Delta stakeholders a
voice in the process. That includes our elected officials)
It’s time to wake up the Governor and the Nation and
expose this great tragedy! It’s time for the people to
speak and have their voices heard. The drilling in
search of the best place to start the canal just below
Sacramento is about to get underway.
The people of the Bay-Delta Estuary must come together and
speak with one voice.
On August 16th & 17th they did. It was called the Million Boat Float.
Thanks for all those that helped, participated and supported the effort.

We have had numerous incoming emails. Yesterday I received this one. I thought was worth reprinting:
Hope you can make this happen Bruce – I have finally given in to the inevitability that the natural beauty of the Delta and its wildlife and waterfowl are already lost to power, money and the special interests and needs of central and southern CA. I write a couple of columns about the Delta’s natural beauty and end them now with “enjoy the Delta’s natural beauty while you can” because I truly (and very sadly) believe it’s too late to fight off what’s already been set in motion.
I am thankful for the 62 years I have thus far been blessed with here in the Delta, and still remember crying as a 2nd grader in the 1950’s the first time I saw the dredgers tearing out the beautiful oak trees I loved so much even then, from the levee banks in Walnut Grove and surrounding Delta areas – thanks to the eternal wisdom of the Army Corps of Engineers, etc..
I won’t bother you with any more of frustration over the past and continued plans. But I will pray you succeed in your efforts, and have great respect and admiration for you willingness to take on the Governor, legislators, power lobbyists, etc. for a noble cause.
Sincerely,
Michael Pieretti
Take it for what it's worth. I say, follow me and let's make Michael proud!

Interesting Math - This is how much water this canal could divert
There are 7.5 gallons of water in a cubic foot...So... 15,000 cfs = 7.5 X 15,000 = 112,500 gallons per second X 60 = 6,750,000 gallons per minute divided by 325,851.43 (number of gallons in an acre foot or as I do round off to 326,000 gallons)... = almost 21 acre feet per minute . 21 acre feet per minute is 1260 Acre feet per hour or 30,240 acre feet per day. Think what that would do to the Delta.
The Guerilla Flotilla
We're going to Sacramento
In every kind of boat
Shiny motorboats, and old dinghies
Any vessel fit to float.
We're cruising up the river
To California's capitol
In whatever boat'll float us
Catamaran, dory, scull.
We've a message to deliver
To the legislative cabal
Don't destroy our Delta
With your peripheral canal.
You'll rob fresh water from the Delta
Killing fish and hurting farms
It isn't right that Sacramento
causes us this distress and harm.
So listen to us boaters
Take heed of all our boats
If you stick us with the P canal
You're losing all our votes.
